Highlights From This Week's Data From The Richmond Fed

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 0.3 percent in December. The index for shelter rose 0.4 percent in December and was the primary driver of the overall monthly increase. CPI has increased 2.7 percent year over year (before seasonal adjustment). Core CPI (which excludes food and energy prices) rose 0.2 percent in December. The year-over-year change in the core index was 2.6 percent. 


The Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand increased 0.2 percent in November after rising 0.1 percent in October. Year over year, the final demand index has increased 3.0 percent. Core PPI (which excludes food, energy, and trade services) rose 0.2 percent in November after a 0.7 percent increase in October. Year over year, the core index has increased 3.5 percent.
