Phillips Lytle LLP announced TaberPatrick PC, a Hilton Head-based corporate law firm, has joined Phillips Lytle. TaberPatrick founder Jonathan P. Taber will lead the firm's new Hilton Head office, its first in the Southeastern United States.
Phillips Lytle's new strategic plan prioritizes investment in new market expansion, organic growth and innovation. The Hilton Head office anchors the firm's strategy to expand into the Southeast, one of the nation's fastest-growing regions by population and gross domestic product. It will initially focus on nearby markets in South Carolina and Georgia, which have drawn major corporate investment, as the firm pursues long-term growth across the region.
Taber was previously a partner at Phillips Lytle and leader of its Corporate Practice Group. Since he founded TaberPatrick in 2017, the two firms have maintained an active affiliation and referral relationship and have regularly worked together on significant matters.
"Phillips Lytle brings the depth and resources of a full-service firm to businesses in South Carolina and across the Southeast," Taber said. "Joining the firm is a homecoming for me. We've worked together on client matters for years, and now we can offer the full strength of Phillips Lytle from Hilton Head."
"Expanding into the Southeast is key to sustaining the growth we've built across the Northeast and Midwest," said Phillips Lytle Managing Partner Douglas W. Dimitroff. "Jon knows our firm, our culture and our clients, and he has built a strong practice in this region. He is the right person to lead this effort."
Taber focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and venture capital transactions, private securities offerings, and licensing and technology transactions. He has negotiated international corporate and business transactions in more than 30 countries and has significant experience in commercial real estate and project development. Before founding TaberPatrick, he was a partner at McNair Law Firm (now Burr & Forman LLP). Earlier in his career, he served as in-house counsel at General Electric.
Isaac Sternheim, formerly senior counsel at TaberPatrick, also joins Phillips Lytle as special counsel and will continue to work with clients of the Hilton Head office. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and general business counseling. He also advises health care organizations on corporate and transactional matters, including health care M&A, physician and provider employment agreements, and practice ownership structures.
